Fashion-preneur

and the

Arts

"All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages"

- William Shakespeare

Yes, I am also a fashion educator and entrepreneur. Howwwwww? The same you?
Let me tell you about it.
The choice to study fashion was made as early as 17 years old.

I started with a local training/apprenticeship style of training that culminated into celebrating my ‘’freedom’’ (Graduation) after the period of my apprenticeship.

Back then, apprenticeship involved both learning and running a lot of personal errands. Invariably, it will take an apprentice 4 years or more to attain the ‘’freedom’’ (Local & particular expression for graduation). It was from that experience that I decided to learn this art to the point that I will teach it, devoid of all the traditional encumbrances that a student went through, back in those days.

My next stop was to study and obtain a Diploma in Fashion design from the Vogue Style fashion school, Accra Ghana and without hesitation moved on from there to the Paris American Academy Paris (PAA), France, where I obtained a BA in Fashion Design.

At PAA, the Universe Aligned for me, I not only obtained the BA, but I was also privileged to obtain rights to establish a similar school in Nigeria. Thus, PAAN, Short for Paris American Academy Nigeria was born.

The Paris American Academy in Nigeria is adequately positioned to help in the area of capacity development. This opportunity is also coming at a time where the roadmap is clear, giving rise to a hopeful set of young men and women who are willing to become part of a structured development system.

Our Institution Paris American Academy Nigeria has undertaken an examination of the Nigerian fashion industry especially garment making / industrial garment making factories and have created a SPECIAL PROGRAM/ CURRICULUM to cater for improving and standardizing garment makers’ skills. This special curriculum will also succeed in improving the quality of workmanship and reduce the occurrence of “Imported” workforce brought into Nigeria to work due to the dearth of skilful hands to work in such industries.

PAAN works in collaboration with local and foreign partners to support the development of a qualified and sustainable workforce in the area of Garment construction, Sketchers, assembly line work force, Pattern drafters, Cutters and illustrators.
